The WorldMusicalInstrument Experience uses either a large group or small group format, where students learn about instruments that originate in each part of the world, hear the instrument sounds and experience the rhythm that unites us all. This is not a performance assembly, but rather an opportunity for the children to make music using musical instruments from around the world.
| In the small group format, each group (about 40 students per group) learns about the origin of the instruments and participates in their own small group performance, learning rhythms on the instruments. Music from India, Africa, and Armenia includes sitar, oud, duduk, shvi, and many world percussion instruments. This is the most educational format for the children because they actually handle the instruments. It is a fun session with participation from everyone, regardless of their ability. Facilitators have experience working with special needs children and adults with disabilities, providing extra support for individuals as needed. |
