This cabasa is made by placing a beaded coconut on a holding stick. By twisting, the beads roll back and forth over the rough coconut and produce a great shoop shoop sound. Lower in pitch than wood and metal cabasa. Originally of African origin, cabasas were constructed from dried oval- or pear-shaped gourds with beads strung on the outer surface, like a shakere. The player places his non-dominant hand on the beads, to provide pressure, while holding the handle with the other hand and twisting the instrument back and forth as per the rhythmic pattern desired. Made in India. WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts - Not for children under 3 years.
