String Instruments → Bouzouki

The Bouzouki is a Greek string instrument. The mid size is called Tsouras and the mini is called Baglama. The Bouzouki is produced in tetrachordo or trichordo, which means 3 or 4 course strings. If you can play a fretted instrument, you can learn to play the Bouzouki.

Bouzouki, Lacewood, Hard Case
SKU: BOUZL
Bouzouki, Lacewood, Hard Case. This four course, eight string, Greek Bouzouki is a beautiful instrument with a rich history. The bouzouki fingering is the same as the higher four strings on a guitar, and the same as the fingering on a ukulele. The tuning, however, is different, the recommended Bouzouki tuning is Cc Ff aa dd. The Roosebeck Bouzouki has a European spruce soundboard, rosewood fingerboard, and mahogony neck. The soundboard, fingerboard, and headstock have beautifully designed custom lacewood inlays. The bowl shaped back options are rosewood, lacewood, or a variegated mix of both. The scale length is 26.25" (667mm). Made in Pakistan. The Bouzouki dates back to Byzantine times, and in Greece, was known as a pandura. It later became known as a tambouras, and around the 19th century evolved into the modern day bouzouki. In the 1960's, the Irish Bouzouki became popular in traditional Celtic music. The Irish Bouzouki looks a little more like a mandolin, and it is tuned differently than this traditional Greek counterpart.

Special Note: The strings put on the instruments in our workshops, while playable, are put through some rigorous testing. They should probably be replaced for improved playability, sound quality, and better tuning shortly after you receive the instrument.

Twin Spot Classic Pick Up by K & K Sound
SKU: PUTS
This twin-head piezo transducer system can amplify a considerable number of instruments: Saz, Oud, Bouzouki, Balaleika, Cello, Dulcimer, Bongos, and many more. The twin-head system has distinctive advantages towards the single-head transducer: The positioning at 2 spots results in a more balanced sound structure. The frequency range is broader. The small heads with only 1.2" diameters allow an unobtrusive installation. Besides, small areas at the instrument can be reached. The professional transmission of the Jazz Guitar is achieved with the Twin Spot Classic. The two pickup disks are wedged at the left and right underneath the bridge. The characteristic sound is transferred with a strong output signal. This installation method, where the bridge is practically "standing" on the pickup, can also be applied with other string instruments that have similar bridges. Twin Spot Classic Universal Style Dual Small Head TransducerThe pickup head is attached with a special double-side adhesive film, which is UV resistant to ensure safe adhesion even after years of use. It is ultra-thin and enables the harmonic frequencies to completely pass through to the pickup disk. Technical Information Pickup head diameter: half inch. . . Height: 1/32" . . . Impedance: High ohmic . . . Length of connection cable: 1 ft. . . . Jack: Quarter inch, connected mono, with nylon shell and jack attachment.
